shampoo and body lotion bottles.
Check the container’s underside
fora number in a triangle, then pitch
anything with a number i or 2 in
your curbside recycling bin—
most communities can recycle
these plastics.

to make
on e n e w change to y o u r h a ir.
It can be virtually anything. Try a new
shampoo, get a deep conditioning
treatment at the salon, change the
way you part your hair, cut bangs,
grow out bangs, go for layers, add
lowlights, or try a temporary color
glaze. No need to do anything
dramatic— think baby steps. I plan to
lop off more than my usual 2-inch
trim and go shoulder-length. And if
I don’t like it, it’s sure to grow out by
the time the snow melts.

sw ip e o fv iv id ly c o lo re d m ascara. Mai ntain all the
definition and volume of your favorite mascara while
intensifying baby blues (and greens and browns). Tinted
mascaras don’t scream color; in fact they aren’t immedi-
ately noticeable until you hold your head a certain way and
your lashes catch the light. With hues that range from the
prim (brown, plum, gray) to more pronounced (blue, gold,
red), there’s a shade to suit everyone. These three flatter
every eye color: Khaki Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet
Faux Cils mascara in Khaki Green, $29; Blue Dior DiorShow
mascara in Azure Blue, $24; Copper Hard Candy
Ginormous Volumizing mascara in Stash, $6.

eyelash c u rle r. “Shoot your
eyelash crimper with a hair dryer for
5 seconds,” says Los Angeles-based
makeup artist Joanna Schlip. “Your
lashes will look twice as intense and
stay curled twice as long.” Touch
it to the inside of your wrist
first to make sure it’s not
too hot to handle.
